When you're waiting to get approved for auto insurance, there are plenty of factors that can affect the decision of the provider. And the bad news for driver is that insurance companies usually deal with statistics in order to evaluate your risk grade. There were a lot of studies and analysis made in order to help companies asses their risk faster and more accurate, and because of that you can be placed in a certain risk category just by seeing which statistical group you belong to. If you end up being in the high risk group your insurance application can be rejected or you can get higher premiums than other drivers. This is because insurance providers are very picky when dealing with future clients and aren't willing to take apparent risks without having the financial security for doing so. High risk drivers are whom the insurance companies usually want to avoid, because such car owners usually cause too much costs due to more common accidents and claims. And it's evident that any sane business would want to cut down their costs and increase their revenues. That's why high risk drivers aren't very lucky when it comes to dealing ...
... with auto insurance quotes. But what causes you to be regarded as one?

Among the set of factors that can put you in the high risk league, age is one of the most prominent (and some would say, unfair). Claim statistics show that younger drivers tend to get into accidents a lot more often than more mature drivers. Lack of proper driving experience, general aggressive driving style and tendency to take risks makes teen drivers a very risky category. This is the major cause for teens to get high auto insurance quotes when getting their first policies.

Driving an expensive or fast and powerful car can also place you in a category of high risk drivers. Such cars usually have higher repair costs and require special parts and services, which not all insurers would be willing to undertake. Right when getting auto insurance quotes you will observe that the more expensive and powerful the car is the more you will have to pay for insuring it.

Gender also affects your risk rating. Most male drivers assume that women are the worst thing behind the wheel, but statistics state otherwise. In fact, women usually get better auto insurance quotes, because in general female drivers tend to get in far less accidents than men. Of course, this is partially due to the fact that there are fewer female drivers on the road than male car owners. But still, women tend to be less aggressive in traffic and this reflects in insurance rates. It will sure seem sexist to male drivers, but you can't go against the statistics.

And let's not forget about your driving record. If it's filled with tickets, minor accidents, traffic violations and other proof of your reckless behavior on the road, then you will certainly get higher rates, if any at all. You can be denied coverage completely if you driving record is bad enough. So make sure to keep it clean and tidy when looking for good auto insurance quotes.
