Who Are Better Drivers - Men Or Women?

Ever since the invention of car and when women started using them, the argument remains the same. Men state being better drivers than women, and this statement has now become something of an axiom that requires pure belief. Ask just any man, who is better behind the will and the vast majority of respondents will definitely mention female drivers with a lot of irony. But is it really so, or the belief in male driver superiority is nothing but a misconception everyone chooses to follow?
Fact is that insurance companies have already made up their mind about this argument and the results aren't very flattering for men. When quoting for the same amount of insurance and the same car, men will typically get higher rates than women. This is because insurance companies regard male drivers being riskier car owners than female drivers. And they have the statistical data to prove it.
According to claim history, young male drivers tend to end up in far more accidents than female drivers of the same age. Men tend to take risks more often, and usually have more traffic violations than women. Besides, the mortality rate in car ...
... accidents for men is 3 times higher than for women. And insurance providers sure keep these facts in mind when calculating quotes.
Of course, such statistics partially owe to the fact that there are far more male drivers on the road and because of that they have more accidents in general. However, in the past couple of decades there was a steady rise in the number of female drivers on the road and today the data is somewhat comparable between genders. So the next time you start arguing about gender and driving abilities, keep in mind the difference you have when it comes to paying for car insurance.
The common belief that men are better at driving is partially due to the fact that men are generally better in things that concern orientation and movement. Men tend to remember small details about the road and location better and faster than women, so it's easier for them to make the right decisions when necessary. In comparison, women tend to get lost and not know the exact route they have to follow in order to get to the place they need, and because of that they can make a lot of mistakes.
Still, there's one thing that really distinct male drivers from their female peers - attitude. There's no denying the fact that men are a lot more aggressive on the road than women. Male drivers tend to take risks and exceed the speed limit far more often than women, and this of course reflects in their driving records and car insurance rates. Of course, there are a lot of reckless female drivers on the road as well, but it's always easier to see a man behind the wheel of the car that cuts in all the time rather than a woman. And that's exactly why car insurance companies are following such a sexist policy when it comes to calculating insurance rates.
