Regardless of having a history going back over 30 years, car games retain a unique affection in the hearts of hardcore gamers. You may feel that it would be hard to maintain this style evolving, and that it has all been done before, but car games are not going away any time soon, it would appear.

On the other hand, those who are not enthusiasts of the games world regularly criticize driving games, claiming them to be repetitive and moronic. The thoughts of these people are, with respect, not to be taken seriously, since they show substantial ignorance of the appeal of such games.

Of course, there are reasonably a few man who know nothing of these games. They may brush off this interest as unnecessary or a waste of time, also claiming that the games are boring and samey. But, actually, none of this is real. For one thing, the diversity of car games is unusually wide.

A prime example would be Traffic Slam, which encourages gamers to drive as recklessly as they can. This game even rewards players for crashing into adjacent cars. Thus it can be seen that this is completely different in style to a conventional race or rally game.

For folks that would demand something more edifying and constructive of a game, there are plenty of games that target skills development. In fact, there are some that could help players successfully complete their driving exam, by educating them about policies of the road. How can this not be a helpful thing?

Similarly, there are games that reward careful driving. In one such game, players take on the role of a hotel worker assigned the job of parking guests' cars. No advancement within the game is possible unless the participant exercises caution while parking.

So, as must be stated, the world of car games is not at all limited or one-dimensional. Those who try to denigrate this perfectly valid form of leisure activity might consider trying it before maintaining it to be of no worth.
