It started with American's getting prescription drugs online from Canadian retailers, first the big pharmacies pushed them out by helping to shape United States drug policies. Now, they are setting their sites on American companies who sell online prescription drugs.

Eli Lilly and Pfizer helped to implement measures to protect and effectively block online prescription drugs from being sold. Eli Lilly went as far as to tell online prescription drug providers to reveal the number of online prescription drugs they ordered from wholesalers or they would have their supply cut off. Obviously, big pharma was not happy about Canadian's having the ability to solve their own problems without the intervention of these large companies. Now, it looks like the same thing is happening in America.

Drug companies, focused on creating new drugs to fill their ever expanding pockets, have found a new enemy in sites that offer online prescription drugs. ... at cheaper prices. They can get online prescription for Viagra or Levitra online, just as easily as buying a pack of gum. This led to an online pharmacy boom, but now it's starting to fizzle.

With the decline of Canadian online prescription drugs, something had to fill the market, and that something was American online prescription drugs. And now the cycle looks like it will be repeated. If these huge pharmaceutical companies have their way they will squeeze out the small online prescription drug companies in favor of their own businesses. Of course the big drug companies say that they are losing money, but patients are still buying their prescription drugs online, but they are getting them at a discount, which does not sit well with big pharmaceutical companies.

The online prescription drugs market is growing rapidly, a study done by the Pharmacy Alliance for Canadians found that prescription drugs online are diverting as much as 40% of the Canada's drug supply to the U.S. This is why large pharmaceutical companies are pushing small online prescription drug companies out, they are afraid of change, and this represents a change in their business strategy that they did not see.

But what about the patients who rely on prescription drugs online? Pharmaceutical companies don't care about them past the bottom line, they are not out their doing online diagnosis for these patients. They don't matter to them and they don't care about putting these companies out of business. It doesn't just affect these businesses and patients, it also affects the doctors who have put in their time and money to build something that benefits patients. Prescription drugs online exist to help patients, to make their lives easier, but if these huge pharmaceutical companies can muscles these companies out, where will the patients go? Surely there is room in Big Phama's pocket.
