A marketing sales agent is a right hand of a sales agency that is responsible to represent a company or a media publisher via marketing its contents. His/her customer base is usually huge, as it includes individuals from different lifestyles of a business, from small independent business owners and entrepreneurs to large corporations. From the TV media lines, radio, newspapers, television and the Internet etc. to choose from, the optional scopes for sales agents is wide-ranging. Some sales agents also do specific sales marketing usually based on billboards, park benches or blimps.

Most sales agents in the marketing industry are usually the outside sales representatives' that call on businesses with or without an appointment. As a result of the existing cut-throat competition in the business with different challenges and personalities to deal with, it is essential for the sales agent to be teemed with great communication skills as well as pleasing attitude to meet the requirements infallibly.

Once a deal is resolved from the consumer's end, it prompts the sales agent to become a mediator between the customer and the sales agency. On the other hand, if the specific advertising is based on radio or television, the agent acts as the conduit for the production department and the consumer. Tantamount to the print ad scenario, there is exchange of ideas with modification in the job until the customer is happy and satisfied. During the final stage, when the final cut is endorsed, the consumer signs off, and the ad is ultimately relayed on the radio or the television.

Alongside of the Ad marketing whilst satisfying the customer, the advertising sales agent also needs to keep up inventory of account and contracts files, scheduling appointments and generating reports. The reports comprise details about the existing current sales statistics, objectives, target consumers and predictable sales figures. The agent is also responsible to create and develop strategies for sales promotion.
