Tips On How To Make Postcard Marketing Work

A postcard can be a wonderful tool to generate leads for a business. Despite being small and having a limited space, it has proven to be a very effective method of direct mail marketing. If you've never tried postcard advertising before, here are some tips on how it can help your business grow:
Make sure you have the right mailing list. A great postcard marketing concept and design may not bring in the best results if you do not send your postcards to the right group of people. This is why it's important to make sure that you have the right mailing list. If you plan to purchase, see to it that you are getting it from a reputable marketing list broker.
Take it on a personal level. One reason why postcard marketing is more effective in generating leads than other methods of advertising is that people usually consider postcards as a subtle way of advertising. Take advantage of this appeal by creating a personal message that actually speaks to your intended recipient. Avoid a marketing copy that is too formal in style and tone. You want your reader to feel as if you are really talking to them face to face and that ...
... you have their best interests at heart.
Don't try to close a sale. Postcard marketing is best used to generate leads or sales inquiries, not to close a sale directly. Because it has only a limited space, you cannot possibly include all the details about your product on one postcard. Focus on a few important points that you want to highlight and emphasize it on your postcard. Encourage your recipients to take the next step in order to get more information either by calling your customer service number, visiting your shop or by checking out your website.
Deliver your message straight. A compelling copy must be short, simple, clear and straight to the point. You want your reader to be able to read your message in a matter of seconds and understand right away.
Mail First Class. First Class Mail in the US costs only 23 cents for standard size postcards and you get all the important features than Standard Mail such as a real stamp, the Return to Sender Option, etc. The extra few cents is certainly worth the expense.
Time it right. Many marketers have found that distributing postcards so they arrive on a Tuesday or Wednesday increases the response rate. This is because the volume of mail in the US is typically light on these days compared to other days of the week. The busiest day is usually on Mondays so it's best to avoid it when marketing with postcards. If your postcard doesn't have to compete with other mails, then it will surely get the attention it deserves.
Set a definite budget and stick on it. You should set a specific amount of budget for postcard marketing right from the start. A well-designed postcard doesn't mean you have to spend a lot of money on printing. You can create a layout and design that is not too elaborate, yet still attractive so you can economize on your budget.
