Kitchen Stoves
Out of all the appliances, both large and small, that can be in a kitchen, a stove is on the top of the list. Without a stove, well, the whole purpose of a kitchen is lost. There are a couple different options when it comes to stoves. While there may be many bells and whistles attached to various models of stoves, it comes down to two basic types: gas and electric. While there are definite benefits to both types, there are also disadvantages to consider.
For example, many cooks will tell you that when cooking, a gas stove is a great deal much more precise simply because you can control the amount of heat under the pan. There is also the ease of clean up with gas ranges which is a bonus to any cook. Gas burners are sealed which makes them much easier to clean, while electric stove tops that have coils can be much more of a hassle to clean. Although there are drip trays under the coils that are relatively easy to remove and clean, often times these trays need to get replaced every so often. However, electric ranges are also available in solid ceramic or glass tops. These solid tops eliminate the traditional coil top found ...
... on electric stoves and can speed up the cleaning process as well, although they can cost more. There is a shared benefit to both electric and gas ranges, and that is that they can both feature self cleaning options for the oven. This can be quite helpful for a person who does not have the time, or even the desire, to scrub out an oven for a lengthy period of time and get involved with all of the chemical fumes from the cleaning products typically involved in this process.
An important thing to remember, however, is safety - with both types of stoves. When operating either type, a smoke detector should always be in place in the kitchen and, if you are operating a gas stove, it is imperative that a carbon monoxide detector is installed in addition to this for the safety of you and your family in case any accidents happen. An interesting fact to note is that, even if your home does not possess the required outlets for whichever type of stove you are deciding upon, such as your home is equipped for gas, and you would like an electric - or vice versa - it is quite simple to get an adaptor from either your electric or gas company for an affordable price in most locations today.
When it comes down to it, as with any purchase for your home, the final decision is yours. There are both advantages and disadvantages to both ranges, and when all is said and done, the stove you choose will be the one that adheres best to your personal needs and preferences.
