Vitosha is a very good ski resort, it leaves a lot of positive memories. Find and get to it is not difficult because it is very close, just 20 km from the Bulgarian capital Sofia. According to this resort is situated at an altitude of 1800 meters above sea level. Vitosha is one of the highest Bulgarian resorts, this mountain also has a status of national park. This status makes the rest more carefully for the environment at the resort. Snow is falling in December and melts only in late spring. The snow cover reaches 1.5 m, the ski season here is pretty long and is 120 days. Air temperature is quite comfortable. When I was on vacation in January, it was -6 Celsius below zero. Trails and areas for skiing here is just perfect. All of them are on open slopes high above the forest belt, suitable for skiers of all categories. Then there are steep slopes, which are a serious challenge even for very experienced skiers. Here you can do downhill, slalom and walking tour in the mountains. In total there are 6 basic routes of 29 km. On the cable-cars can climb up the mountain or fall down - lift Simeon Aleco a few minutes of tourists descend ...
... on the outskirts of the capital of Bulgaria. Immediately evident that the ski school in Bulgaria is relatively young. But the rest is simply gorgeous there. In addition to skiing in Vitosha has a lot of winter carnivals and competitions for beginners. The ethnic cuisine and magnificent Bulgarian wine at local restaurants and bars very was pleasant. Hotels here are different - from Post-Soviet to modern five-stars. Rest there is cheap in comparison with countries such as Austria or Switzerland, for example.
