Why Castors Would Have Ended The Trojan War Sooner?
They ultimately got in thanks to the iconic and now infamous wooden horse they constructed to hold between 30 and 40 men, depending on the version of events you believe. Now known as the Trojan horse, the Greeks were undoubtedly the founders of modern warfare strategy as a result of it but just imagine how much sooner they would have been able to bring the war to its conclusion if they would have had castors available!
According to mythology, it took three days to build the Trojan horse. This was a direct result of the sheer size of it and the need to construct wheels that would be able to hold not only the horse itself but also the men inside. Bearing in mind that there were 30 men inside, this was some weight. In modern terms, it would have to have held 2280kgs assuming that the average man weighed 76kgs (as per 2005 UK National Health Service figures). Making wooden wheels would have been a major chore but what if they could have simply fitted castors?
Castors are essentially the wheels that are fitted on the bottom of units in any number of industries in order to enable their transport. For example, they can ...
... be fitted to the bottom of smaller units like catering trolleys right through to industrial size roll cages that are used to carry heavy equipment so the heavy duty wheels would have had no problem at all supporting the weight of the Trojan horse and the 30 plus men in it.
In fact, if the Greeks would have had the 2BZQX/XXH/SZ series (available from BIL Castors & Wheels) then they would have been able to have more men in the horse because they support weights of between 2800kg and 11500kg. It would have also have been easier to move it because the castors would have certainly had major advantages over the wood, such as distributing the weight evenly and offering incredible support as well as a smooth ride! However, the major advantage is how much faster it would have been to move the horse... and indeed any other equipment the Greeks had.
So, with this in mind, why would castors have ended the Trojan War sooner you ask? Well, the Greeks may not have had the idea of sending the Trojan horse in any sooner had they had castors available to them but they would have had the element of surprise on their side right from the start. They would have been able to sneak all of their heavy cannons and other weapons upon Troy much quicker and with very little noise at all. As such, thanks to castors, they may well have been there for 10 days rather than 10 years!
