It is often said that Men are from Mars and Women from Venus. Have you ever thought about this statement? Have you ever thought why a conversation between men and women end up in misunderstanding?

Recent scientific study has found that microscopic differences between the male and female brains are the hint to the difference between the two sexes. While it's not completely clear how the structural differences in male and female brains affect their function, scientists theorize that the most likely impact is upon the way men and women process information.Studies have elaborated the following differences in the brains of males and females.

There is a substantial difference in the brain weights of men and women with the average brain weight of an adult man being about 11-12 percent more than that of a woman. Also due to the larger built, larger muscle mass and larger size of men's bodies, men's heads measure about 2% more than women's.

Men have 4 percent more brain cells than women and brain tissue is about 100 gms more in case of men. This explains the reason why even though the net loss of neurons is the ...
... same, women are more prone to diseases than men. Credited to the fact that men have 4 percent more nerve cells than women, it provides them function reserve for the neurons which prevents any function loss.

This is the number of neurons present and studies have shown that an average man has more neurons in the cerebral cortex while an average woman has a more developed space between cell bodies which contains synapses, dendrites and axons. These neuropils lead to better communication among neurons.

Research shows that a woman's brain contains a larger corpus collosum, which signifies that women can relocate data between the right and left hemisphere faster than men, who tend to be more left brained.

It is also shown that the areas in the frontal and temporal lobes related to language are larger in women, thus providing an accepting for women's dominance in language skills. This gives women a different benefit over men for whom language is most often just in the dominant hemisphere which is generally the left side. This means that while a woman might retain some language from her right front side brain if she suffers from a stroke in the left front side of her brain, men are less likely to recover from such damage.

Such structural differences between men and women can be credited to evolution. When the embryo develops in the womb, circulating hormones like androgens are responsible for the formation of a male brain while the female brain are formed because of the absence of the same hormones.

Though the studies shows scientific structural differences between men and women's brain, every person is different and unique in their own ways.
