Many years ago electric coffee makers already exist and they were available in many styles, but what you wanted back then was entirely dependent on you and your means. If you were a rich person you wanted a machine that was aesthetically perfect and sophisticated. If you were not so prosperous than you wanted something that did nothing more than makes the beverage.

Coffee as an import is second only to oil. It was in the year 1908, a lady named Melitta was unhappy with the grounds that ended up in the bottom of her cup. She decided to solve that problem by making holes in the pot and lining it with paper. The first drip coffee came and was patented.

Today a Melitta pot is still available and can be purchase in the market today and the filters still have tiny holes in them. The first of the one-cup machines was invented by Keurig. He believed that you could only drink one cup at a time, so why not brew it that way. After a few years Toastess, a fifty year old small appliance company came up with the idea of brewing two cups at a time for people on the run. Thermal mugs keep the drink hot till you need it. There ...
... are many electric coffee makers on the market today all you have to do is choose the one best suited to your individual taste.

When talking about the electric coffee maker most people think about the automatic drip coffee maker. But that is not the only option - and it may not the best one either! In this article the different electric coffee maker will be briefly discussed.
Automatic drip coffee maker: This is by far the most common automatic coffee maker. This is so easy to use. Unfortunately, most of these machines do not make very good coffee. The main problem is that most of them brew coffee at too low a temperature.

Electric French press: If you like strong full-bodied coffee then you should consider the electric French press. There are only two different models available: one by Chef's Choice and the other by West Bend.

Electric Moka pot: This is a Moka pot that has an electrical base and is very convenient to use. So instead of making the coffee on the stovetop you just put the Moka pot on the electric base and turn on the switch. Bialetti, Delonghi and La Pavoni are popular makers of electric Moka pot.

Electric cappuccino maker: The most popular is probably the Bialetti Mukka Express Electric, but there are others too.

Automatic vacuum brewer: Automatic vacuum brewer makes great coffee and convenience at the same time. But unfortunately it seems that producing a decent automatic vacuum brewer is not that easy. The only model available at the moment is the Bodum Santos electric coffee maker. It used to be sold also as Starbucks Barista Utopia. This product is not so good and not recommendable. Well, let's hope someone comes up with a better product soon.

Electric percolator: Percolators are not the best way to make coffee but some people seem to like the bitter over-extracted taste.

Single serve coffee maker: Probably the most convenient way to make coffee one cup at a time. With these coffee machines you use individually pre-packed portions of coffee. The coffee is more expensive but for a lot of people the convenience you get more than compensates for the cost.
