The German Wirehaired Pointer is a unique medium-sized muscular breed. This hunting dog has a sturdy build that is made for hunting all day through all types of cover. A well-muscled breed, they normally weigh between 60-70 pounds, and has an average height from 22-26 inches at the shoulder.

Coat

Their functional wiry coat is the German Wirehaired Pointer's most distinguishing characteristic. Their weather-resistant and water-repellent double coat has a dense inner coat that acts as insulator against cold climate, but is too thin in summer that leaves it almost invisible. Their topcoat is harsh, wiry, straight, lays flat, and about one to two inches long.
