The English Cocker Spaniels have short and fine fur around their heads, with medium-length hair on their bodies. The hair on their bodies can sometimes be a bit wavy, and silky. The English Cocker Spaniel requires regular combing and brushing. Bathing through dry shampooing should be done only when necessary, regularly checking the ears for any grass seeds or untoward manifestations, and excess wax should be cleaned regularly. Brushing the hair from the feet down, through the toes, and trimming it level with the bottom of the feet should be done. Trimming should be done in the hair around the pads, never between the toes. Owners should brush out tangles and burrs after they play outdoors.
