Training at home has many great benefits and is one of the best ways to get yourself motivated to the point where you are able to consistently stick at a training routine you've set yourself. Here we will look at why it's so much more motivating to work out when you have fitness equipment for home use, and how you can encourage yourself to do so more.

The first thing that makes fitness equipment for home use so useful is of course the fact that you don't have to go outside to use it. If you attend a gym then that means that every time you want to visit the gym for a workout you have to first travel there. If you have a car then this might seem like no big deal, until you actually have to go there and particularly if it's cold outside, dark or raining - when you've come home from an eight or nine hour day at work then often the last thing you can face doing is heading to the gym for another outing. Additionally this then adds to the amount of time that your workout has taken and then rather than taking just an hour or forty minutes as it would at home, it takes two hours or more especially if there's traffic. ... this you often then need to get washed and changed in the communal changing rooms which can also be highly unpleasant, and this will also probably be dirty and unclean compared to your own nice bathroom.

Buying weights and fitness equipment for home use is also an investment and it means that you don't have to spend money each time you go to train. This already means that you will be more likely to want to train because you aren't paying for the privilege each time. If you've had an expensive week and you're not feeling flush then this can often be enough to deter you from using the gym. At the same time though, it will also mean you're encouraging yourself to use your equipment to make the most out of that investment - you've spent the money so you'll likely want to make the most out of it by actually using the equipment.

Having the equipment lying there also makes you more likely to use it - in a way it beckons to you and when you're in the right mood and fancy some exertion it can actually be quite enticing to capitalise on that - whereas you can't just act on an impulse to go to the gym because of the hassle involved. Further, it can feel almost like you're 'lying' to people if you have lots of weights equipment lying around that you never use so you feel almost like you should use it more for that reason.

Finally working out at home allows you to use other things to motivate yourself more. You can turn on a soundtrack that you like to get you pumped up (and not have to worry about headphones) or you can watch a film starring Arnie or Stallone which will get anyone pumped.


When choosing fitness equipment it is important to buy the best equipment you can afford. This is because fitness equipment and also other gym equipment have a rough life with lots of moving parts. Cheap machines can break down easily.
