Honesty, by definition, mean that the words, inner thought and actions should keep same and consistent.
Here is a short story related to the word of "honesty" . At two points of a vast desert , there are two villages, people who want to go to the other village should across the desert and walk for 20 days, , but it is easy to loss life when across the desert. A wise man passing by told the whole villagers to find a lot of trees and planted a tree every section of the road until to the opposite village. The wiser said: "If these seedlings could be survived , then you could walk along the trees, if they do not live, that every person who is passing by must insert the tree deep to the soil. Thus, two villagers began to rely on these signs over a dozen years. One day, a stranger passing through, the villagers told the man what the wiser said, and the man promised that he will do that. When walking on the road, he thought: "it doesn't matter to tell a lie, because it is trouble with so many trees."At that time, a hurricane came, and many trees were obliterated, he could not find the way and finally died in the desert.

... reason why the man died in the desert is that he was dishonest, he told a lie. If he followed the credit, there would be a safe way for him to go back. This story shows that honest and trust is very important, we must be honest and trustworthy. Some people are dishonest, because whatever they do are just for themselves. Thus, the integrity of life is an essential quality of all of us.
Recently, some data show that the average is three times that a British tells lies per day. This is a universal phenomenon around us. For example, when it is late to go to school or work, we say there is a traffic jam. This lie is only a practice for their own. The other way round, do a little work, listen less to a lesson is the loss of his or her own! So, remember a word, "lie is harmful and sinful."
In short, we can not say a lie, we must be honest. Because honesty is not just for others, but also for ourselves.
