Some people are fond of growing flowers and often worried about the flower growth in winter. However, they often ignore some details in growing flowers. Here, I will share my experience about growing flowers in cold winter and I really hope it will be useful.

Room temperature should not be too high. Many flowers and plants step into dormancy and semidormancy state and they need sufficient rest. Whether in the bedroom or the balcony, the temperature should be controlled between 4℃ to 8 ℃. It is better no more than 10 ℃. Under a high temperature, flowers will have physical activities and even there will be budding. However, this is the waste of saved energy and it is bad for the growth of the coming year. Flowering plants in this category are: gardenia, jasmine, orange, plum, figs, pomegranates, grapes, hawthorn, iron stems Begonia, apricot, peach, apple, honeysuckle and so on.

Avoid the excessive fertilizer and water. When the flowers and plants enter into dormancy, all physical activities stopped basically and they only need few fertilizer and water to maintain life. So, there is no need to fertilize ...
... dormant flowers. Fertilization not only is wasteful, but also damages ornamental plants to root.

Air should not be too dry. The environment is already very dry in winter and the relative low humidity in air will affect the growth of flowers and plants. The flowers and plants whose requirement of the air relative humidity is not less than 80% are camellias, azaleas, orchids, spider plants, asparagus, and saxifrage etc. The flowers and plants whose requirement of the air relative humidity is not less than 60% are hibiscus, cyclamen, jasmine, rubber trees, pittosporum, cacti and so on. When the humidity is low, you can use watering to solve this problem.

What's more, plants and flowers should be put under sunshine every day. It is better to have three hours' sunshine to keep healthy growth in the coming year.
