You will be able to tell if a nursing home is clean by looking at the floor, bedding, and bathrooms. Mostly, nursing homes have great maintenance and cleaning crews, but looking at community areas can often allow you to notice visible dirty areas that should be clean. Odors are usually a sign of an unkept nursing home. If the seniors have odors, this means that they have not been cleaned, or have had help to the toilet in quite some time. If the residents look clean, with little to no food on their faces and hands while in their rooms, hair neatly groomed, clothed with socks and shoes, or their wheelchairs are safely fastened, this is a good sign.

The senior should feel comfortable in their new environment and should enjoy their stay in their new home.
