Symptoms Of Vitamin B12 Deficiency

Vitamin B12 or cobalamin as it is sometimes called is a form of vitamin that does not occur naturally but is mainly provided by taking supplements and food additives as a result of its value. Vitamin B12 is necessary to the metabolic processes of each cell in the human body. Vitamin B12 is required to produce the red blood cells which the body needs to transport oxygen throughout the entire body. If there are not sufficient B12 vitamins, a person may experience anemia, meaning that the body does not have the needed amounts of red blood cells to work effectively or the person has vitamin B12 deficiency. The symptoms of vitamin B12 deficiency are:
feebleness, fatigue and lightheadedness.
Pale skin.
Sore, red tongue or bleeding gums.
Nausea
Weight loss
Diarrhea or constipation.
lack of sensation or tingling in your fingers and toes also called paresthesias.
A poor sense of balance.
Depression.
Loss of mental abilities.
Shortness of breath
Headache
Vitamin B12 deficiency can cause great damage to the brain and nervous system that may be permanent. ...
... Similar to many medical conditions, the symptoms of vitamin B12 deficiency are also encountered when other conditions are present and hence, experiencing the symptoms may be representing some other disease.
Vitamin Overdose
The body is made to deal with natural occurrences of vitamins and minerals but it is not able to deal with unnatural drugs so successfully, therefore, an overdose of any vitamin can have negative effects on the body's performance. It might be a good thing to take vitamins but too much of a good thing can become bad. Each vitamin has its own consequences and symptoms in case of an overdose. These are outlined below.
Vitamin A
Large intake of this vitamin can cause headache, hair loss and liver damage. Large amounts are accumulated in the liver, hence, any overdose over a period of time will cause vitamin A poisoning in the liver. Signs include headache, peeling skin, nausea and blurry vision.
Vitamin E
An overdose is harmful to persons who take blood thinners as it can cause blood thinning drugs to overreact and this may result in bleeding. Signs include breast tenderness, severe fatigue, weakness in the muscles and high blood pressure.
Vitamin D
High doses can boost the absorption of calcium in the body and therefore lead to high levels of calcium in the blood. This will in turn cause the heart and lungs to operate improperly. Signs include headache, pain in the bones, loss of appetite, muscle weakness and nausea.
Vitamin B6
Large intake of this vitamin will cause numbness in the mouth and hands. Very large doses will damage the peripheral nervous system. Signs include clumsiness, fast breathing, burning pains and paralysis.
Thiamine and Riboflavin can do no great damage as they are water soluble and therefore any overdose will be excreted in the urine.
