What's better than cuddling up with your kid and reading a book together? Sounds fun, doesn't find? Well there have been many research findings that suggest reading books together with children is one of the most important things that parents can do to help their children become proficient in English. So, whether you are on the couch or at the kitchen table with your tot grab a book and enjoy some reading moments.
Here are 8 ways to make English Time fun for your kid by reading together
1. Select a book that repeats same phrases at every page. By early first grade, bring some books designed for beginning readers, including books that have chapters and books that have pictures and provide true information rather than make-believe stories. Books of poems and rhymes are also great as they introduce your child to spoken sounds and words in a fun way.
2. Before you read talk with your kid about the cover of the book and the pictures inside.

6. As you read aloud, stop and point to letters and words and then point to the pictures they stand for. Your child will begin to understand the words and the meanings they convey.
7. Read the story many times so that he becomes familiar with it. After many reads ask your child to retell the story from his memory.
8. After reading the book talk about it. Ask questions like Did you like the end?, Who was your favorite animal? or What did you learn from the story? By doing so you will connect him to the story.
