UK universities have always known for its excellent quality of education and high standard of teaching both in terms of course content and student welfare. In UK, over 150 universities and colleges have latest facilities of teaching and research where a wide range of courses are taught. To make sure that education quality is maintained, UK has implemented quality assurance and academic audit systems and the high standard of teaching are not just found in teaching only but in other facilities also like libraries, research equipment, computers and living accommodation.
There are three types' entities in UK for higher education- colleges, universities and institutions for higher education. Where as post graduate study may be in one of two forms- either as a work of independent research under supervision or a taught course lasting one or two years.
The secondary education in UK starts at the age of eleven and after completing secondary education, higher education starts. There are two levels of higher education, they are-Non-university level post secondary studies and university level studies.
UK has some of the best renowned universities in the world, Oxford and Cambridge University have always been at the top of the UK universities and offer a large number of courses. An important feature of UK education system is that nearly all master courses have one year of duration unlike other countries US and India and graduation courses lasts for three years. To take admission in the UK universities international students who do not have English as their mother tongue must provide evidence of English proficiency. Since English is the only medium of study in all UK universities, so it is really important that students should have a good command over English. Moreover, almost all universities in UK conduct the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or Test of English as Foreign Language(TOEFL) exams to judge the efficency of international students in English. It is mandatory to qualify either of these tests to get admission at the top notch college in UK for a degree program.
