Scentsy is a Wickless candle company that has been in business since 2004. The company was founded by Kara Egan and Collette Gunell; two stay at home moms who were looking for a safe alternative to flamed candles. They began making the product in their basement and marketing it at Event Expos. Orville Thompson, an entrepreneur from Boise, ID happened to be selling at the same expo in Sandy, UT and saw the product there. He was intrigued by the idea of a flameless candle warmer that used a low wattage light bulb to melt the scented wax. He took some product home to his wife and she fell in love with the product and the idea of a safe candle.
