W Hotel Austin Now Accepting Reservations Starting January 15th, 2010

The W Austin Hotel & Residences has begun taking reservations for guests arriving Jan. 15.

The $300-million Stratus Properties Inc. and Canyon-Johnson Urban Fund II LP joint venture is opening on time and on budget, according to officials. It will be the latest addition to downtown's growing 2nd Street District and houses a new theater to host KLRU's Austin City Limits. The 37-story project will include 251 hotel rooms, 159 condos and 53,000 square feet of office, retail and restaurant space.

The hotel hosted two casting calls last week to find the needed 300 workers to open the property. Officials said the talent recruitment center downtown saw 1,000 walk-ins and received 5,000 online applications. Candidates can still apply by making an appointment or submitting online.

The new jobs include a position called the Insider that will act as the face of the W Austin, familiar with new and returning guests, as well as the city.
