Cancer is represented by the crab. Appropriately enough Cancer people seem easygoing, sympathetic, and patient one minute, then cranky and irritable the next. Ruled by the moon and with water as their element you could compare their mood swings to the turbulence of the shifting tides. However, they are very sympathetic and sensitive to others and readily show their affection.

One of the basic characteristics of a Cancerian is that they are very prone to mood swings, which are matched by changing emotions. In one instant they may come across as very extroverted when in a typical party mood enjoying other peoples company and laughing at their jokes, yet on the other hand they can also be completely introverted, sitting in a corner and lost in his or hers own world.

When in a melancholic mood they can become the coldest person on this earth and drown you in his bottomless depression. Unfortunately Cancer people are prone to pessimism and usually hide their fears. It is rare for them to take revenge when someone has hurt them. More often than not they will retreat to their shell and become completely ...
... unreachable.

They might not know it themselves but Cancerians are very intuitive, almost to the point of being psychic. They are very able to notice the smallest change in someone's behaviour so it is very hard to deceive them.

Like a crab Cancerians are often known for sidestepping. They rarely take the direct approach to what they want, but eventually they get what they are after. Cancer is also the sign of home and family life. They seek out relationships and are happiest when with those they love because it gives them a sense of security. Positive attributes include nurturing, protective, traditional, sensitive, understanding, caring, intuitive, and tenacious.
