Keep An Open Mind!
It is interesting to note that in the age of modern medicine, there coexists alongside the scientific community a segment of the population that believes that people can be healed by means other than modern medicine. There was a time when the mind-body connection was studied with vigor. Studies were conducted showing how the brain has the power to influence the body to take care of itself. By the same token, the brain has been deemed powerful enough make the body develop psychosomatic illnesses.
The human body has evolved in such a way as to be able to take care of itself. It is an ecosystem in and of itself, where each unit supports the others, where the activities of one system influence another. For the body to do its own self-maintenance, said units must be functioning properly. However, everyday living brings with it a host of factors that can throw one of the body's units out of kilter, like pollutants and environmental irritants.
Numerous studies have been made about the power of the mind over the body. Some of these studies have concluded that the mind can activate bodily processes and correct malfunctions. ...
... It has been said in the past that the human brain is currently using only 10% of its capacity. Could the other 90% be tapped, for purposes such as healing the body?
Outside the mainstream scientific community, research studies have been conducted indicating how a brain in the theta state -- a state at which the brain is in a deep state of relaxation -- is able to tap into the subconscious mind and how that enables said person to influence his/her own healing. Anecdotal reports show how theta healing was responsible for the recovery of people suffering from a number of physiological and genetic diseases.
Theta healing is a process where the healer and patient are placed in a mental state where their brains emit theta waves. Healers state that at the theta stage, they can influence energies, both of their own bodies and that of their patients. Like in other alternative therapies, proponents assert that the subjects can influence the growth or alleviation of their own diseases.
While the scientific community still holds that theta healing belongs to alternative therapies and should be approached with skepticism, there are a number of people who swear by it.
