Groom's speeches are probably the hardest to write. After all most grooms are emotionally shattered on their wedding day and find it hard enough to say I do.

There are, however, some people who need to be acknowledged on that day of days. It would be a very ungracious groom indeed who did not thank his parents for their love and kindness over the years. If he wants to stay in well with his new in-laws it behoves him to say what a wonderful daughter they have reared and how he will cherish her for the rest of her days. If it has been a religious ceremony it is polite to mention the work the priest or pastor has put into making it a very personal wedding ceremony. There are other optional thank you's to be said. The singer or the organist may have really added to the ceremony. His cousin may have arranged the flowers. If someone has gone out of their way to do something to add to the day it should certainly be mentioned in his speech.

The Groom's speeches should include a welcome to the guests. He cannot of course, mention them all but he should mention any very special guests. So if his aunt flew around the world ...
... to come to the wedding or his grandfather came to his big day, despite being in a wheelchair, he should make a point of mentioning that. Groom's speeches will also include a thank you for the wonderful gifts he has been given.
The Groom's speeches should also mention his best man. He can explain that it was he who got the nervous best man to the church or that he had to make a dash home for the ring the best man had forgotten. Of course he should also say what a wonderful support he had been in the weeks preceding the wedding day.

Naturally too the groom has to find words to explain just how beautiful his bride is and how lucky he is that she said Yes when he proposed. He might mention some incident during their courtship or speak of his hopes of being a great husband to a very special wife.

In the busy run up to the wedding the bridesmaids are usually very supportive of the bride and he should mention this. He might even compare their hard work to the laid back approach of his best man! Whatever about that the groom's speech should always end with a toast to the bridesmaids.
