This article discusses what Mindset means as related to what Napoleon Hill says about Faith.
Your Mindset IS Everything! This article came about from a dream that I had. Honestly I don't remember the details of the dream; however, the main premise of the dream was: Your Mindset IS Everything! Sure, like me, I'm sure that you have heard the speakers on motivation talk about mindset. They are always telling us the importance of a positive mindset. So what does this really mean? For me, when I think of mindset I think of the state of my mind. Is it totally positive oriented? Am I firing on only positive cylinders? Also I realized it could refer to what state of mind I am set in. This time it could be just the opposite. Like am I set in a negative state of mind? Is it only temporary or could be that it has set in? Let's take a look at what Webster says about the word set. First, it refers to set as a verb with the following meanings: to fix in a frame of time, to cause to sit. When we think of a negative mindset we are causing it to sit or settle in one place. Ever watch concrete when it is setting ...
... up? It begins to become rigid and unmoving. When we think of a negative mindset we can picture the setting concrete. However with any negative we can change it to a positive. So let's discuss the setting in of a positive mindset. Would it not be a good thing to begin to think of your mindset as positively rigid and unmoving? That would mean that you would keep it positive regardless of the present circumstances. Now I'm not referring to becoming Pollyannish! What I am saying is that what would your life be like if you were able to maintain a positive mindset that becomes as rigid as the setting concrete? What would your life be like if this positive mindset was as unmoving as a 50-ton boulder using a toothpick as the lever? One of my favorite mentors is Napoleon Hill, author of the all time best selling Think & Grow Rich. Hill realized the importance of Faith and even developed it as one of the 13 Principles in his book. Here are some quotes from this incredible book about Faith: Faith is the head chemist of the mind. When faith is blended with thought, the subconscious mind instantly picks up the vibration, translates it to its spiritual equivalent, and transmits it to Infinite Intelligence, as in the case of prayer. So how do you develop this Faith that can move mountains? Again let's see what Napoleon had to say: "Repetition of affirmation of orders to your subconscious mind is the only known method of voluntary development of the emotion of faith." Finally here is one of my favorites that Napoleon really enjoys also: Faith is the ‘eternal elixir'which gives life, power and action to the impulse of thought. It is really interesting when you note one of the meanings of elixir: a substance held capable of prolonging life indefinitely. Here are some other statements Napoleon made about Faith: Faith is the starting point of all accumulation of riches! Faith is the basis of all ‘miracles' and all mysteries which cannot be analyzed by the rules of science. Faith is the only antidote for failure. Faith is the only agency through which the cosmic force of Infinite Intelligence can be harnessed and used by man. These are VERY powerful STATEMENTS by Napoleon who did not lightly sprinkle is writing with as many onlys and alls! So after reading this do you think it is possible for you and I to develop that positive mindset like setting concrete? Napoleon Hill gave us the key to having that mindset: FAITH!
