Lots of people wonder why stuffed animals are one of the top children's toys. Well, these have been classic children's toys for generations, being made commercially as far back as the 1880s and having booming success until today.

The hottest among the kids were the "Teddy" bears that were named after President Teddy Roosevelt when he would not kill a bear cub during a hunt. A German toymaker saw a legend in the making when the more famous newspapers featured caricatures on the refusal and decided to seize the chance to honor the President. And the rest, as they say, is history.However, stuffed animals were accepted long before the Teddy bear came about. From scraps and rags were fashioned these sweet little loves that sprung out of the imagination of these creative women. With lives that were fraught by uncertainty, these lovely creations kept the children comforted and secure. Just give kids a stuffed animal and watch their eyes become happy with delight. There's no one better for a kid to have an adventure with, to share a conversation with, or to go on a flight to fantasy. From them there would be nothing that hurts ...
... or nags. They were made only to bring joy to a child. They're there to have the world a bit more secure.

These children's toys have evolved a lot more than bears into almost any form that a human being can dream of and then some. There are only one or two people who have a childhood that has not been made better with one or another type of stuffed toy. These days, you'll find actually much more adults who are collecting these bits of childhood memorabilia. It seems the appeal for the best friend reaches far and wide. And the stuffed toy has taken on a life of its own, it seems. There are actually websites for popular stuffed animals and other plush toys where the toys can be played with inside of a virtual world. This would be the best way that the children were able to get their dreams come true in terms of their toys. There's no more beloved friend that a child will prefer. They have been favorites for the long time and may be so for years to come.
