Those Are Strings, Pinocchio!

Easy influence
Employers love temp workers, especially when it comes to unschooled work. Employment agencies deliver employers with just a flick of their wrist so it's all settled nice and quickly. The employer has influence on the selection process, but the agency handles the rest. When the new employee arrives, both parties can figure out it the collaboration works. If not, there's no hassle at all. If the employer wants to get rid of the employee, and the other way around, it can happen the same day.
Not satisfied? Money returned
Well, not really the money. But the employee can be gone whenever you feel like it. Or if you're the employee, you can leave whenever you like. No harm done, when there's no match, you can move on to the next temp worker, or temp job. There are no strict rules regarding terms of notice so it's easy to quit the collaboration.
Strings attached
A major disadvantage is money. For the employee AND the employer. Because the employment agency gets a lot of money for fixing the collaboration, the employer gets less salary than regular employees. And that can differ a lot. ...
... For some employees it's even a reason to offer the temp workers a contract if they're satisfied with each other. Like that, the company doesn't lose money to the employment agency and the employee earns a fair amount of money.
For employees
So it's quite easy once you've made the first step to the employment agency. They arrange meetings for you, search jobs that might fit you and offer companies the chance to work with you. But sometimes they come up with work that doesn't suit you at all. No worries, you can quite whenever you like! It's easy saying no to something when there are no consequences. And there really aren't any. If you want to quit, you can leave whenever you want. Nice! Try as many times as you like, at some point you will find a job (or basically: they find it for you) that suits you. Money is money, right? You'll lose some to the agency but who knows, if you play your cards right the company might offer you a permanent job.
Orchestra with strings
A job through the employment agency is easy for both parties: the employer and employee. No strict rules, easy come, easy go. Employees that don't like the offered job can decline and move on until they get somewhere they feel like working. The employment agency only pays for working hours, so when you're ill you don't get paid. Refusing jobs is possible, the collaboration between employment agency and employee lasts as long as you like. Companies can hire people if they're satisfied, but of course this depends on the temp worker as well.
No work, no pay
A job through an employment agency might be a bit of a doubtful period though. You don't know whether you're staying because the company can kick you out if they like. You don't get paid if you don't work, so you'll need as many hours as possible. But all in all the employment agency is there for you. You need a job? They fix you up with one. If you're not happy, you can leave. Just remember that the swing goes both ways.
Though many feel like the opposite: getting a job through an employment agency is nothing to be ashamed of. Even better: you'll actually get work and therefore money! Want to give it a go? Check the vacatures or jobs offers!
