Men suits have been around for several decades, although the styles have changed considerably. Today's suits are quite different and involve several choices for men. Suits come in various styles which include pinstripe, windowpane, check patterned, and solid. As each suit has a different style, they are chosen for different occasions or uses as well.
The solid suit is a suit made in one even colour. Popular colour choices include navy, black, and charcoal gray. Other less traditional colours exist such as white, green, purple, and brown. These suits have absolutely no design to them as a pinstripe or windowpane suit may have.
A solid colour suit is typically worn for office occasions. These suits are very traditional and not at all distracting, perfect for office wear. Great versatility exists with a solid colour suit because it is easy to locate shirts and ties which match appropriately with one solid colour.
Another suit style which can be found in men suit options is a pinstripe suit. This suit is similar in tradition to the solid colour suit in its use. A pinstripe suit is used mostly for office occasions ...
... as they provide an air of authority to customers. This suit is a more formal choice than many other styles of suits.
A pinstripe suit is a garment which has vertical lines running up and down the jacket and pants. The width of the pinstripes varies but is neither too wide nor too narrow. A pinstripe suit is often confused with a pencil striped suit and a chalk striped suit. These suits have similar vertical patterns except the widths are much different. The pencil striped suit has very narrow stripes which are closer together whereas the chalk striped suit has thick stripes.
A windowpane suit contains both vertical and horizontal lines in the jacket and pants which creates a square or window pane shape on the suit. This suit requires great skill in matching ties to wear. Additionally, this suit is reserved for less formal occasions outside of the office setting.
A check pattern suit is very similar to the windowpane suit because it also has vertical and horizontal lines. These lines form smaller squares than the windowpane squares. A check pattern suit is much trendier than other suits and therefore is reserved for parties and social events only.
A solid or pinstripe suit are very traditional garment options for the office setting whereas check patterns and windowpanes suites are reserved for social affairs. Having a couple of each style option will ensure a man always has an appropriate suit to wear to any occasion.
