Gigs And Events In London!
Are you looking for what to do this week in London? Here's your guide to What's on in London
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows were released in the cinemas this week. It is the seventh and final adventure in the Harry Potter film series, which will be told in two full-length parts. You can see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 at various cinemas across London. For more details please visit:http://bit.ly/eFLQiF
Motorhead
Motorhead have been destroying PA systems for over 35 years and are 'the dirtiest rock 'n' roll band in the world'. Lemmy has been declared the greatest living Englishman, yet he collects Nazi memorabilia in his spare time. Despite being a pensioner, Lemmy Kilmister still smokes two packs of Marlboro Reds and sinks a bottle of Jack Daniel's a day. Healthy living is clearly not Motorhead's forte and the hairy rockers remain a menacing prospect behind closed doors. Older fans certainly won't want their teenage offspring going for a ride on the Motorhead tour bus. Lock ...
... up your daughters and prepare to rock. For more details please visit:http://www.wozzon.com/url/event/motorhead@o2-academy-brixton/44836/9012
Smirnoff Nightlife Exchange
Smirnoff has arranged for several cities across the globe to swop nightlife for one evening, and London is swopping with Miami. N*E*R*D and Jaguar Skills are playing, with Zane Lowe watching over them in a "Miami themed" DJ set. I'm not entirely sure how a British DJ and band, plus a band from California fit into a Miami nightlife experience, but hey, it's a good excuse to see N*E*R*D play live. Black Watch
Black Watch is a superb political and social drama, which has played to 113,000 people across three continents and received over 22 awards. By exploring the male psyche in the desert storms of Iraq, Black Watch reveals what the disputed 2003 conflict meant to the troops on the front line. Viewed through the eyes of the soldiers on the ground, Black Watch investigates through its expletive-riddled language, what it really meant to be part of the Scottish regiment in Iraq. It is an enormously powerful play and one particularly relevant to our times. For more details please visit: http://www.wozzon.com/url/event/black-watch@barbican-theatre/1566560402/4825
A Nightmare before Christmas: The Circus of Horrors
Now in its 15th year, the Circus of Horrors is touring with its new show, The Four Chapters from Hell. Weirdy sideshow acts grace the stage in a performance following the history of the freak show. A loose storyline starting in the 1800s gives the performers the opportunity to showcase their talents in bizarre and beautiful acts including a flying trapeze, a woman suspended by her hair, roller skaters and sword swallowers. A good old fashioned freak show, with a scary twist. For more details please visit: http://www.wozzon.com/url/event/a-nightmare-before-christmas%3A-the-circus-of-horrors@indigo2/7962191902/2037417502
O2 Christmas Fair
Christmas fairs pop up all over the place at this time of the year, and you'll be hard-pressed to find a bigger one than the one at the O2 Arena in Greenwich. The fair has popped up in the village area of the dome, and there will be fun fair rides, Santa's grotto and a traditional German market set up to get you in the Christmas mood. Even some of the fun fair rides are themed, with a Reindeer Express rollercoaster and a Magic Snowman ride. It's totally free to come and have a look, though of course there is a small fee for the fun fair rides. Evolving English: One Language, Many Voices
If you have a love affair with the English language then you will love this exhibition. There is an example of Victorians using text speak a century before we ever did, and a pamphlet on how to use the letter H. It advises to not pronounce the H in 'herb' and 'hospital', just showing us how our language has blossomed over the years. Also being explored is why 'love is blind', why Americans say 'fall', but we say 'autumn', and there is also an opportunity to tell the library what words you use every day. Do you say sofa or settee? Mum or mam? Recording booths have also been set up in this exhibition to capture yourself reading the Mr Men story of 'Mr Tickle'. The library will use these recordings to discover how different people say the same words and phrases, and to show just how rich the English language truly is.
