It's The Eating Season

Although it's just a little bit too soon for the Christmas decorations to show - we've still got to get through Halloween - it's time to start thinking about how we are going to get through all this eating and drinking without bursting every seam in our clothes. Thanksgiving is almost here. The family is going to get together and the table will be sagging under the weight of food. By the time we have all finished, we will be sagging as well. All this socializing is great, keeping the family ties strong, but it's hardly the way to keep our health. Go back to the time of the original Pilgrims and they had it easy. There was only a little food to see them through the winter months so everyone was thin all year round. The idea of the feast was a final celebration when the barns and store houses were full after a good harvest. Once the frost came and the snows fell, that was all the food they had to last them through to spring. Now we live in a land of plenty, we eat our fill every day and then have blow-out meals like Thanksgiving. It's no wonder we end up feeling bloated and uncomfortable.
What makes all this celebrating ...
... so much more challenging is the family itself. Months go by without so much as an e-mail and then they are all suddenly gathered round the table. If you are lucky, everyone is happy but, more often than not, it can all end up in bad temper. Then when you look at the wreckage after the festive season, we struggle to get into our clothes, we feel tired and our self-confidence is fading as the weight rises. You only have to look at the stick insects on the pages of glossy fashion magazines. Where do they find all these thin women? How can they be held up as perfect models? It's all too depressing. And then you remember. When you get depressed, you like to eat.
So what to do? Well, step one is start a diet right now. You know you will feel bad about yourself come the New Year. There will be all those Resolutions you make with the best intentions and then promptly forget. It's better to start now. Lose some weight before the festive season comes around. That way, when you have eaten your way through turkey and more turkey, you will at least be the same weight as you are now. OK so this is a little bit of cheating - making room for the food you are going to eat. But it's a good first step. Then you should really take that New Year Resolution more seriously. This year, add Phentermine into the mix. This controls your appetite and lets you get between meals without feeling hungry. That way you really can cut out snacks and come down to three balanced and healthy meals a day. Why add Phentermine? Because you will feel hungry without it and hunger is the fastest way to lose your motivation to diet. Take the pill, lose weight during the winter like your Pilgrim ancestors.
