Certification in kettlebell exercises will vary by geographic region. In the United States, the process in obtaining a kettlebell certification is much less regimented than in the United Kingdom. Although the certification program in the UK is more involved, the trainers produced from the program tend to be more knowledgeable.

It is important to have a well trained instructor when performing kettlebells exercises. This is largely to ensure the most accurate results. Completing kettlebells exercises incorrectly may not produce the results a person is looking for. This can cause people to become frustrated and quit working out. As with any workout, if the exercises are not performed accurately, a person can do more harm to the body than good. For these reasons, it is important to hire a well trained kettlebells instructor.

In the United Kingdom, there are two main courses for kettlebell certification. These courses are designated as Level 1 and Level 2. Both courses are similar in the design, but focus on particular outcome objectives.

Level 1 and 2 courses both require a full 2 day dedication from ...
... the participant. These two days are divided into classwork through study and instruction and hands on activities. These activities are very physically demanding as it is just as important that students not only know what the exercises look like, but also how to perform them.

The major distinctions between the two levelled courses are the people the future certified instructors will instruct and the types of exercises. Students in the Level 1 course will learn how to put various kettlebells exercises together into a more complete circuit of workouts. These circuits provide a more in depth and concentrated workout on particular body regions. Students taking the Level 2 kettlebells certification will end the course with knowledge that can be applied to coaching professional athletes.

In order to pass these kettlebell certification courses, the student will need to take a paper test as well as complete a demonstration portion assessment. The students will be scored in demonstration and instruction, coaching points, communication, and correction.

A thorough kettlebell certification course should contain various levels of training. This helps to ensure students in the course master the particular kettlebells concepts in order to best meet the needs of their future clients.
