He is known for his vivid use of color and exceptional vision. Peter Max art is in high demand and for good reason. Most people can relate on some level to his work. Known as America's favorite living artist, he has contributed beautiful pieces of art for over four generations. In addition to over 40 museum shows around the world, Peter Max art graces the collections of five U.S. presidents.

However, to own a piece of Peter Max art also comes with a history of idiosyncrasies. Many of the most popular artists are known for their little quirks, and Peter Max is no different. In 2010, he made headlines, not for his art, but his collection of 36 classic Corvettes. He purchased them in 1989 from the winner of a VH1 contest; however, they were stored in a basement of an apartment building in New York City for twenty years. There was never any maintenance completed on the cars and after an extensive inquiry by some of the city's press, they were moved to an undisclosed location. Peter Max has ignored requests from Corvette enthusiasts around the country to allow them to restore the cars, and it's made Peter Max something of ...
... an eclectic persona.

When you're looking for original Peter Max art, you might be surprised at how easy it is to find. He has several galleries throughout the country. However, you will pay quite a steep price for most of these works. There are other, less expensive ways to get your hands on an original art piece from this artist. For example, you can find several pieces online through an art broker. In many cases, the original art is offered for less than retail. Some websites allow you to make a best offer and it's up to the broker to decide if they want to take it.

You can try to find original art through private collectors and some will offer artwork on eBay or other auction sites. The major pieces may end up at an auction house, such as Sotheby. Depending on what you are willing to spend, you may find one of these avenues is more to your liking. Some of the original art may be found in some obscure estate sales, but to be honest, this is quite rare anymore.

In closing, if you're looking for a Peter Max art, you can usually find several up for sale in a number of different venues. It just depends on what your preferences are. Be sure that you get a certificate of authenticity with every piece of original artwork you purchase, or you may have significant difficulties selling the place at a later date or even just having it insured. Owning an original Peter Max painting will surely add a wonderful piece to your current collection.
