The web has now become a competitive market place compared to 10 years ago. Doing a search for a service or a product in a search engine can produce often millions of results. So what makes customers pick one over another?

Say you have three website offering the same product at the same price. One takes 70% of the sales, one takes 20% and one 10%. What makes people choose the first website? The answer is in the way the sites are presented to the market. Putting up a site and expecting people to buy is no longer an option instead users need to be drawn into a website, and interact with it.

This is where product customization and Personalization come into play. So what is the difference between customization and personalization and how can webmasters or site owner use it?

Customization
Product Customization is all about allowing the customer, to choose the way they interact with the product or services. Lets look at at kitchen design for instance. Before deciding which products to buy, users can engage with the layout of the kitchen, size and colour of units, colour of handles for drawers and cabinets, choose finishes for appliances and more. By giving the consumer a choice, product customization can easily sublimely upsell a wide range of other products that the customer may not have considered. Catering to your customers creative sde allows them to have fun with their product, and the buying cycle becomes interesting and exciting, and more importantly they are more likely to complete the sales cycle if there guided through their choices.

The days of static websites are long gone. Webmasters and site owners, are now looking to make their website different from the competitors, personalization and customization are two solutions that fit these needs. With many websites now often selling similar products, adding an extra dimension to a website can be the difference between making the sale and losing the customer.
