In the world of bingo people speak a different language and need to learn this to understand what's going on. Some terms used in bingo might confuse you just a little initially but you'll get it all in some time. Read on to learn about several of them. Let's start with telling you that 'Bingo' was in it's early days was called 'Beano' as the cards were then covered with different dried beans as placements on the cards. Some time long ago in the past a lady once by mistake shouted 'bingo' on winning instead of 'beano'. This is the moment where history changed and from then on out, "Bingo" was turned into the phrase used whenever an official win occurs - the very first term in Bingo Lingo, so to speak.

'Bingo' is just one of the several terms used in a bingo hall. When only one number is required to win the players call it 'Set' or 'Waiting'. So when you hear or see 'waiting' don't misunderstand that they are waiting for the game to end but realize that in just one more number somebody could win the game. The next term is 'Ball in Monitor' meaning that if somebody hadn't already just won then the with the next number somebody ...
... else could win.

Various bingo games actually feature various names that players of the game instantly recognize. The game in which one requires all the numbers in any line to be marked out to win is called "Hardway Bingo". "Postage Stamp Bingo" refers to a four-number set in each corner. A "Picnic Table Bingo" or "Letter X" Bingo is a game with high importance of the topmost row of the bingo card in the game. A "Jailbar Bingo" is a game in which the columns B, N, and O are required to be marked out. Nicknames also exist for some numbers when they appear in certain columns of the card. B-1 is known as the "Little Guy", while O-75 is known as the "Big Guy". G-50 is called "Hawaii 5-O", while O-66 is called "Route 66".There aren't any bingo professors or researchers here who have created these nick names, they have obviously been created by the players of the bingo community These nicknames have been given to certain numbers by bingo players itself. One example of this would be G-54, called "Cena's Number" after John Cena, the WWE superstar who wears that number on WWE and wore the same number during his days of college football.

A lot of people tend to assume that the majority of bingo players are all old ladies who scream out bingo lingo to each other, but the truth is: bingo games are played by people of all ages all around the world, while the slang words are used by such people, as well. Be alert while playing bingo and you will also learn all the bingo slang in no time Just keep listening and observing other players while you play and you will pick up the slang too.
