Located just 30 minutes drive from Melbourne's CBD, the $440 million Wyndham Harbour marina development is destined to become a major boating and lifestyle destination. Once complete, the world-class development will be the only safe boat harbour between Williamstown and Geelong and will feature up to 1000 wet berths and dry boat storage for up to 390 boats - making it the largest marina in Victoria and the second largest in the country. General Manager of the Boating Industry Association Victoria (BIAV), Mr Clyde Batty, said that the BIAV were excited about the Wyndham Harbour project. Wyndham Harbour attracts and caters for a safe recreational boating lifestyle. With popularity in boating the industry growing, and currently over 170,000 registered recreational vessels in Victoria, facilities like marinas with the infrastructure to accommodate the boaters' needs, are much sort after commodities.

Recreational boaters like the idea of sailing or powering from one place to another, stopping over, and returning home to a safe harbour. If Port Philip Bay could provide more marine destinations that were able to accommodate this, I believe more boaters, and their families would join this type of lifestyle, says Clyde Batty.
Wyndham Harbour's Project Director, Sonya Miller, said interest in Wyndham Harbor amongst the boating community had been strong.
The idea behind this development was first conceived over 25 years ago, so it has been a long time coming. Melbourne is ready for this marina development; the project has had an overwhelmingly positive response amongst both the boating and wider community. It's a great opportunity to make the most of a fantastic bayside location so close to the city, says Ms Miller.
