The word interactive is self explanatory and the terminology interactive web design means the web design that is dependent on the interaction of the buyer, website owner (business identity) and the website design company. Ever since the internet has crept into the households, the internet marketing strategies have undergone a tremendous change on all the flanks. This has led to the evolution of the interactive web design. On the contrary there are website that have come off age and hardly have any interaction with the visitor because they only display the text content and visual content. These sorts of websites are called static websites.

Some of the major reasons as to why an interactive web design should be preferred to a static website are as follows

Orientation:
The interactive web design is marketing oriented while the static web design is sales oriented. If not wrong today's the era of marketing and not sales. If the visitor is going to feel that the website just wants to sell without understanding his/her needs then the visitor may log out of the website. An interactive web design is about a website ...
... that tries to know the needs of the visitor and accordingly direct him/her to the pages that have relevant information. The static website just informs the visitor about the offerings without trying to know what the buyer wants.

Referral market:
In these times of taut competition, every click and every prospective buyer is of vital importance for the business. The dictate of the time says that no stone should be left unturned to have access to the prospective buyer. The referral market has many such buyers and tapping this just needs the website to be interactive. If the website happens to ask about information about anyone else interested in buying the offerings, tapping the referral market could become a bit easy. There is no scope of this in the static web design.

Limits:
Having an interactive website does not mean that a big questionnaire list has to be embedded on to the website. The website should not be confusing because of the interactive elements. This could make the navigation difficult and finally unproductive. The website needs to be a professional interactive web design so that the purpose of both, the business and the buyer is served.

Time:
An interactive web design sees to it that the website responds positively and quickly to the feedback that is received from the visitors. This requires involvement of the web design company whose services the business has hired. The incoming information/data has to be managed. The business identity needs to think seriously about the feedback and get the changes incorporated into the website slowly but firmly.

Changes:
Unlike a static web design that is one-way-traffic; interactive web design is two-way-traffic. A static website is usually rigid to changes but an interactive website is usually flexible and amendments to it are possible. Changes to the website, especially updating with the latest information is necessary for hauling up the website in the search engine list.
