Jewellery sales did suffer during the recession, being a luxury good. However, the global jewellery market is recovering in 2010 and is likely to grow significantly over the next few years, driven by growth in the luxury segment and rising standards of living in Asia.

Jewellery has always been popular. Archaeologists have found that both men and women were wearing some form of jewellery thousands of years ago. But the question is why has jewellery been so popular among the human race for so long?
