What To Do In Rio This December 2010 Part 1

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil is a top tourist destination, regardless of the period of the year, thanks to the fact that in this area there is perfect weather almost throughout the entire year. Here you get beautiful clean beaches, unique nightlife, very interesting culture, beautiful women and a lot more which we will let you discover once you get there. Of course, there is more to the city than this, Rio has a lot of other activities to offer every month and this December is no exception to this rule. In the following we will show you what will be going on next month in this wonderful city.
The International Sand Sculpture Competition will open its doors on November 21st and will be closed on December 5th, 2010. The venue for this interesting event will be at Enseada de Botafogo - Praia de Botafogo - Botafogo. On the first of the month, Rio de Janeiro will be the host of the International Aids Combat Day. Here meetings regarding attempts to isolate the HIV virus will be organized, in addition to lectures that will help to public to avoid and prevent this disease.
National Samba Day will be celebrated in Rio de Janeiro ...

The idea to have a day for celebrating samba was born at the closing of the I National Congress which was organized between November 28th and December 2nd, 1962, when Samba Day was officially instituted. It was created by a degree, and the date symbolizes a tribute to artists and all those who throughout the years have turned the Carnival into the most exquisite expression of the Brazilian popular culture. In 2007, on October 9th, IPHAN - National Artistic Heritage Institute advisory comitee voted the approval of the Carioca samba as cultural heritage of Brazil in its three distinct forms of expression: partido alto samba, backyard samba and samba storylines (plots).
December 25th is Christmas and Rio de Janeiro will celebrate it in great style. The streets will be bustling with the coming and going of Cariocas doing their Christmas last minute shopping. The city will be filled with colored lights and beautiful decorations on The Flamengo Aterro; along the sea-fronts and the great decorations of the shopping malls, which will most likely attract a large number of children, with the traditional presence of Santa. In downtown Rio, the churches and cultural centers will open their doors to Christmas carol concerts. The managers in the churches invite everybody to reflect upon the passing year, think about the incoming year, and participate to the special attractions at the Nossa Senhora da Paz church.
