Police believe 24-year-old Alex Oyola was the getaway driver for at least three other robbers but they said he has refused to give up his companions, who were never arrested, or lead police to the more than $200, tiffany necklaces on sale,000 in stolen jewelry.

On Thursday afternoon, Oyola stood crying before Superior Court Judge George Thim as he pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery.

Senior Assistant State's Attorney Pamela Esposito said she will recommend Oyola serve a 7-year prison term when he is sentenced Oct. 1.

According to police, shortly after 5 p.m. on Jan. 13, four men wearing dark hooded sweatshirts and dark sunglasses entered Lenox Jewelers on Black Rock Turnpike.

The men yelled "don't move or we'll kill you," and then pulled out ball peen hammers and began smashing one of the Pandora Jewelry cases.

Police said the men scooped up 42 Breitling watches and fled the store. Two employees of a security company followed the robbers as they drove off in a grey sedan but lost the car as it drove at high speed ...

They spotted the car a short time later and police said one of the witnesses attempted to photograph the license plate but the grey sedan took off again at high eventually getting on the northbound side of the Merritt Parkway.

An all point bulletin was put out for the car and police said it was stopped a short time later by Stratford police just north of Exit 55. But police said when it was pulled over, Oyola, tiffany cufflinks, the driver, Jewelry On Sale, was the only one in the car. Inside the car police said they found a black ski mask, sunglasses and six pages of Connecticut jewelry stores, included the Lenox store, in a Google search printout.
