Web Redesign

As an online business grows, so do the preferences of its target audience. Websites need constant adaptability to compete against other businesses, so when a web redesign is in order for your own site, it can initially be an intimidating thought. People are naturally reluctant to change; as such, web designers and users alike face many challenges. Redesign does not necessarily mean tearing down an entire site and starting over, but it does involve a very complex approach that addresses not only the visuals but the textual content of a site as well.
The one advantage to redesigning a website is that it doesn’t require the actual physical work that a brick-and mortar company does when it is remodeled.
The following are some indications that illustrate that it’s time for a website redesign:
1. Some of your website’s pages don’t appear to fit together. As new elements are incorporated into your site over time, it can affect the overall layout, detracting from the site’s user-friendliness and organization.
2. Navigation ...
... has become difficult. To visitors who have never seen your site, navigation should be self-explanatory; however, as new pages are added, organization can become compromised. When a user is not easily able to navigate your site, he or she might quickly hit the back button on the browser for another, clearer site.
3. The sections lose their clarity. Often, these sections are comprised of the original content, but throughout the page, other links have been added regardless of relevance. The content of each section should be clearly defined to the reader, rather than having irrelevant content added when there is no better place to put it.
4. Old content is not deleted. Customers are quick to offer feedback on what needs to be added to a website, but they often do not take into consideration the irrelevant content that should be removed. When a site becomes too cluttered, it can result in disorganization, necessitating an overall cleanup of old content and outdated links.
5. The site lacks focus. All websites should include a call to action; this gives the visitor the main gist of why the site exists in the first place. When this is not present, the user is unsure of what to do with all the information at hand and may ditch the site for one with more clarity of intent. There is also the opposite problem: a site can have too many calls to action, which still does not provide a clear focus. The overflow of content can overwhelm a user, causing him or her to either back out of the page or exit the website entirely.
6. SEO (Search Engine Optimization) elements are missing. Your site might need a re-design to reflect your SEO and marketing efforts as well as increasing conversions.
Because your website is the first impression that your prospective customers will receive, it needs to make a statement that explains to people why they should choose you over the competition. It should be easily navigable to any user who stumbles upon it, and it should provide a clear focus of what it’s about.
