Looking like a celebrity isn't so hard these days. One only needs to have lots of money and undergo plastic surgery for one to look like Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, or Orlando Bloom if that is what one desires. Though it is a common assumption that people who have their noses done do so to enhance their physical appearance and to become more attractive. Be that as it may, there is more to rhinoplasty (nose job) than just aesthetics.

Not everyone who elects to have rhinoplasty does so for aesthetic reasons; some have no choice but to undergo the procedure for reconstructive or health reasons. For instance, some people are born with birth defects, like havin very tiny nostrils) which can cause breathing obstruction. Some people meet accidents which can cause nose injury/trauma requiring surgical intervention. Thanks to advances in the field of rhinoplasty, those who need such procedures for health or even aesthetic reasons no longer have to suffer.

As a medical procedure, rhinoplasty goes back a long way; 3000 B.C. to be exact, in Ancient Egypt. There is also documentation which proves that rhinoplasty had been performed ...
... in India sometime around 800 B.C. by a certain Sushruta, known to us today as the Father of Plastic Surgery.

Basically, the procedure can be done in two ways. The first is through the open approach, the second is through the closed approach. The open approach involves making incisions inside the nostrils where the muscles and tissues are shaped. Open approach is just one type of nose surgery; Los Angeles surgeons consider this procedure very delicate and hazardous, which is why they recommend extra caution when doing the procedure.

Closed approach is another type of nose surgery. Los Angeles surgeons define this as making a small incision to the columella (thin skin that separates the nostrils) as followed by the dissection.

The incisions made are used by the surgeons to diagnose and determine the sizes of the bones and muscles inside the nose, in order for them to properly change its form. A safe surgery is always the best nose surgery, Los Angeles doctors say.
