Like I Care!

Not only scrubs
It's not all McDreamy's and McSteamy's in the medical sector. Let's get that straight from the start. And you don't necessarily need to be covered in blood all day. There are alternative job offers in health care though, for example non-clinical roles within the industry that may be an option. These kinds of jobs don't require a clinical degree or certification, and may be less of an adjustment if for example the emotional factor is too much. Non-clinical jobs still let you to work within the general medical arena, but without providing direct patient care.
Life changing
There's no profession better than health care if you've got a thing for people and touching lives. Let's face it, what other profession lets you touch lives the way you can in the health care industry? Think pregnancies; help bring a new life into the world. Or on a whole different (maybe heavier) level: save a life from ending. In health care you can change lives, impact them in a way only health care professionals are able to.
No day is the same
In health care it's quite impossible to experience a dull moment. ...
... It's not like the fabricate the hectic, exciting, ever-changing moments in all those popular TV hits like Grey's Anatomy, ER, Private Practice and Scrubs. The medical field runs in high speed and is fast paced, dealing with situations involving life and death. Every day brings new patients so it's very unlikely you'll get bored because nothing new ever happens. And hey, if the job comes with some romance; that's only a perk right?
No worries about recession
Despite the economic situation, people turn to health care for a profession. Why not, considering the fact that health care will always be needed. And it is a serious option indeed, as health care continues to grow. New jobs are available daily and even in the lowest points of recession health care is in need of fresh blood. Pardon the pun, but it's true. It's true you need a proper education for this. And yes, that will take years. But it pays off in the end!
Up for it?
It's does take a lot of time and money to get where you want, if you're up for a job in the medical world. You've got a few factors to consider before pursuing a medical career. For example the costs and time invested in the right certifications and education. Schedules and hours involved are not like standard 9 to 5 jobs. Some shifts can last up to 48 hours! And then of course, you need to be able to deal with serious stress and emotional pressure. And you're bound to be away from home a lot and when something goes wrong, you need to deal with it yourself. Taking care of parents and their relatives, providing support and guidance takes it toll on you and your personal situation. But this is all part of the deal, and the pros should beat the cons!
Working with patients every day can be very tiring and stressful. But jobs in health care (or vacatures zorg) are also extremely exciting and challenging. And you get paid a lot. Are you up for it?
