The Roots Of Business Outsourcing

In business, the term outsourcing rings a bell to the ear. Some companies prefer outsourcing services in carrying out functions which are not specifically related to the company's core business. Among the most commonly outsourced services are human resources, accounting, maintenance, and security. Do you know that the modern concept of outsourcing has its roots from the primitive society?
Outsourcing started during the nomadic period. During those times, people need to hunt or gather fruits in order to have something to eat. One tried to learn either of these ways of searching for food. Those who were good at hunting were the hunters; those who were expert in choosing good fruits were the gatherers. Hence, the primitive society knew the importance of specialization. One must know how to carry out one function competently and excellently in order to bring food to the table.
The concept evolved in the development of livelihood and the rise of business. As time passed by, the population grew; people learned how to barter goods for food and service. Trade and commerce slowly developed. The invention of currency ...
... led to the rise of merchants and traders. Because of the division of labor among people in various classes, outsourcing was equated to the acquisition of service from an individual or a group of individuals from other societal classes.
In the modern business landscape, outsourcing means acquiring a service from an external group or organization that specializes in the given field of work. In accounting, it is defined as the transfer of an in-house function to an outside service provider. Examples of this are call center companies which provide telemarketing and customer management assistance to trade businesses and commercial markets.
Outsourcing has become a business strategy among companies nowadays. Small organizations outsource services in order to keep its business operations strong. In addition, outsourcing is one of the key strategies in reducing company expenditures. For instance, the call center industry has continuously flourished because of the vast number of commercial companies that need to cut down on their costs in terms of consumer response management.
Outsourcing is not new in the field of business. Though it is frequently related to modern offshoring of call center companies, the concept has its roots in the primitive times.
