It seems as though at least once a week mobile companies send an SMS to their customers offering them the opportunity to change their ringtone for a small fee. You may or may not want to change your ringtone, but the offer is there for you to take up. Some people never change their ringtone and stick with the one they decided upon when they first got their mobile phone, which came with a selection of tones. That way at least they know when it's their phone that's ringing if it has been abandoned for a while in a handbag or briefcase. It's rather like a mother recognizing when it's her child that is crying in a crowded play area. We have all become so attached to our mobile devices that we recognize their ‘voice'.

There are so many ringtones out there for us to download that really we are spoilt for choice. It would make sense for us to change our ringtones frequently so that we can have different music depending on our mood. A resounding few chords of Beethoven's Pathetique for example if we are feeling forceful or a quiet melody if we are calmer. The choice is ours, and perhaps we really ought to seek to change ...

They save you the hassle of going through the other music sites to download the tune you are looking for, and they are free. There's no harm in checking some out, even for the sake of curiosity, although you might be tempted, even if you are attached to your current ringtone.

Natural sounds are good, because you can see people react to them. They actually look to see if there's a real animal behind or close by them. This is quite amusing if you have a frog croaking in a crowded mall, or a plaintive kitten letting you know you've just received a message. I've found that a chirruping cricket causes quite a stir too, as girls and women are rather squeamish about such creatures.

Of course, if you have the time, you can create your own ringtone, but if you don't have a good ear for discordances, you might have to spend some time doing this. At least you are being creative though, and will have an individual sounding ringtone. It's just so much easier to download one that's just a few clicks of a mouse away though.
