The term ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) is also familiar to medical professionals as ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder). Mostly diagnosed in the state of childhood, research has pointed out the presence of ADHD in adults too. Symptoms of ADHD can be physical and psychological. Major symptoms related to ADHD are restlessness, impatience, excessive talking, fidgeting, impulsiveness, including other types of hyperactivity. Tests related to neuro-psychology for ADHD patients have revealed that they have problems with task-organization, they have various levels of attention deficiency, together with diminished amount of attention while listening, unorganized and interrupted planning, tracking objects visually, squirming frequently and fidgeting, etc.

There are predominantly three types of ADHD:
Predominately Inattentive : These types of individuals will rank low in follow up of instructions, have poor organization skills, can get distracted very often, possess low level of achievement in completing tasks.
Predominately Hyperactive-Impulsive ...
... : Patients with this type of ADHD are found to have pronounced impulsivity, talk a lot, besides other types of hyperactive behaviors. They are more prone to accidents due to impulsiveness.
Combined : Signs of both above types of ADHD are present in these types of patients.
Treating ADHD with medication is done just to aid the smooth flow of chemical messages through the nervous system. Medications act as supporting factor in treatment of ADHD. The patient has to motivate self to perform normal activities.

ADHD symptoms treatments include medications commonly prescribed such as stimulants, antidepressants and non-stimulants. These medications correct the imbalance of neurochemicals in the brain which contribute to cause ADHD. One can get advice and medication from a physician about ADHD. This helps in controlling the disease over a period of time. Sometimes, allopathic treatment is not on the patient's list. Such patients can go for natural remedies for ADHD like herbal therapy, meditational therapy, homeopathy etc. Research has also shown that counseling and support play an important role in the treatment of ADHD.
