During spring and summer season, students get very excited because they will be able to go on vacation trips with their family and friends. They prepare for parties and balls and set dates for almost everyone in their circle of peers. Among their most favorite destinations during these seasons are water parks and beach resorts.
Beach resorts started way back in Ancient Rome, at about 2nd century B.C. Men and women showered in public baths with separate rooms for each gender. Once small and simple, these rooms were redesigned to accommodate more people and to provide a more pleasant atmosphere for everyone. Mixed baths for men and women were opened to the public not long after bathroom sizes were expanded.
Outside these bath areas, recreation facilities were also built for the public. Some places required entrance fees, but most were free for everyone. Usually, these were located in large Roman structures where gyms, restaurants, libraries and snack bars could also be found. Ancient Roman recreation areas functioned the same way as today's modern malls.

Hence, structures were built in districts where people frequently socialized with one another. This was the basic concept of resorts in Ancient Rome.
In 1326, the first resort was developed in Belgium. An explorer built a shelter in a town now called Spa after he was cured of an illness through the iron-rich waters near Liege. Foreigners began to visit the place until it became a popular destination for tourists in Belgium. Thus, commercial spaces were opened both for tourists and businessmen, just like the Panama City beach vacation rental we know today. The word Spa, which means fountain, is now a familiar word commonly associated with soothing and relaxation.
Resorts became really popular when a British royalty visited Spa. It was said that the number of visitors swelled after this popular visit in the town. Similarly, like in Panama City beach vacation rental businesses expanded. Not long after, beaches, springs and water parks in other places were also developed as resorts.
