Planning a holiday is always a daunting proposition, more so if it's India. This country of diverse culture and extremes of climate can leave the tourist frustrated and with excess baggage, if the holiday to India is not planned carefully.
The first thing would be to take a look at the budget and then look at all the aspects of the holiday  accommodation, the climate and appropriate clothes, the tickets and visa  but first the budget. Many hotels offer pick up and drop facility but for the tourist on a tight budget, don't be surprised if the taxi, rickshaw or the bus is a little rough. Like any other country, this beautiful country has two faces  one for the tourists and one for the locals.

It is also advisable to be familiar with the culture of the place intended for the visit as each zone has multiple religions and the one thing that a tourist would not want to do in a country like India would be to hurt the religious sentiments, even though it may be unintentional.
