Today most of the web sites want to improve their page rank. Page rank determines how much internet traffic is directed towards your web site. According to a research done by independent organizations, most of the time people tend to click the results which was ranked in first three positions. Also majority of the times people visit site that are there on the first page itself. So if you have a web site that is made for the purpose of earning revenues then it is very important that your site is ranked in first three positions. Lots of research goes in improving the page rank of a web site. The increased page rate also increases the business.

Following techniques can be employed to improve the page ranks:

1.Study the search engine Algorithm: Most of the search engines have programs that scan internet for relevant web pages. They are called Crawlers. Crawlers follow a particular path which is determined by the algorithm of search engines. Technique of Reciprocal linking is the most employed method of cross linking that helps in improving web traffic of two or more sites mutually. Through resource linking you can hyper link important links of other web sites which provide more information. If the resource links are relevant then it will improve the page ranks substantially.

These techniques employed by Search Engine Optimizers are a very good marketing tool for web sites. If successful, they give huge returns on investment. The techniques are broadly classified as proper and correct way of improving page ranks by employing relevant techniques and key words. Another way of using short term or dubious methods to improve page rank is also called Spamdexing.
