Pacific Jewel is Australia's latest super-liner, joining Pacific Dawn, and Pacific Sun in the growing P&O Cruises' fleet. Pacific Jewel was built in Italy in 1990. Her distinctive curved profile is often referred to as ‘dolphin-like' in shape.

Prior to her maiden cruise with P&O, Pacific Jewel undertook a one-night cruise for travel agents, the media and other parties. It was a great opportunity to inspect the vessel and experience the new types of entertainment on board - an amazing high-wire circus and trapeze arena on the top deck as well as introducing the all-Australian stage show. The 45-minute show features a troupe of 14 dancers and circus artists performing to a great sound track, ranging from Britney Spears' Circus to Tears for Fears' Mad World.

Another hit on board was the newly designed Waterfront Restaurant. Its ambiance is as good as or better than mainland restaurants. The ship also features Aqua, which is spread over the top two decks of the ship's bow. It is Australasia's largest spa at sea, with 11 ocean view treatment rooms, a salon, ...

A highlight of the cruise was a one night performance by Marcia Hines - she engaged the audience and all had a wonderful time. Like Pacific Dawn the ship is very easy to find your way around.

P&O Cruises Pacific Jewel is now sailing year round from Sydney to the South Pacific and New Zealand.
